Bright Food is now bidding for 50% of the shares of Yoplait, a French yoghurt brand, and was told that it was allowed to participate in the second round of bidding in early April, according to Wang Zongnan, president of Bright Food.
Yoplait is the second largest yoghurt producer behind Danone in terms of sales volume and it is now owned by PAI, a French private equity firm, and Sodiaal, a French dairy cooperative group. Wang Zongnan said that after he got the news that PAI would sell its shares in Yoplait (which accounts for 50%), he decided to take part in the bidding and was in the first round after the Chinese New Year.
Wang added that there were over ten participants in the bidding. Bright Food offered the highest price, according to Financial Times.
However, Wang did not reveal the exact price in this round.
