Wal-Mart China convened the First Wal-Mart Asian Investors Conference on March 31 in its headquarters in Shenzhen, where over 60 market analysts and investors came to the event. Doug McMilon, chief executive officer and president of international business, and other senior executives talked about the development of the company in China and other Asian markets and its long-term development plan in China.
Participants of the meeting were from leading financial centers in the world, such as New York, London, Hong Kong and Toronto. The speeches made by Wal-Mart management have deepened the understanding of those analysts and investors about China s retail market and consumer trend. During the two-day stay in Shenzhen, they got to know more about Wal-Mart in China and its development potential by visiting Wal-Mart Supercenters and talking to consumers.
On the meeting, executives from Wal-Mart said that retail industry has enjoyed double-digit growth in recent years in China s booming economy, which is now the second largest in the world. Besides, Chinese government has made encouraging consumption as an important part of the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. 15 years after its entry into Chinese market, Wal-Mart hopes to maintain its steady progress in the future.
