Steel climate index released

Write: Viau [2011-05-20]

A survey conducted by the Economic Daily and the National Bureau of Statistics showed China's steel climate index stood at 101.2 points in the second quarter of this year, up 1.8 points from the previous quarter. The steel warning index was at a relatively high level of 120 points, up 13.3 points. The survey noted the growth of China's steel output remains robust. Its steel output would reach a record 620 million to 630 million tons this year. It was the persistently high utilization rate that has led to the recent sharp volatility in the steel prices.
