Customs data showed China exported 5.62 million tons of steel products in June, up 680,000 tons from May and 293.01 percent from the same period last year, bringing the total during the first half year to 23.58 million tons, up 152.3 percent. In June China imported 1.47 million tons of steel products, up 110,000 tons from May and down 9.82 percent year-on-year. In the first six months, the country imported 8.44 million tons of steel products, up 3.8 percent.
In June China exported 60,000 tons of billet and 560,000 tons of coke, up 530,000 tons from a year earlier while importing 20,000 tons of billet and 47.17 million tons of iron ore, down 4.73 million tons from May and 14.69 percent year-on-year. In the first half, China exported 120,000 tons of billet and 1.4 million tons of coke, up 507.9 percent while importing 260,000 tons billet, down 90.3 percent and 309.28 million tons of iron ore, up 4.1 percent.
