Lvliang Steel to make debut in Shanxi

Zhongyang Iron and Steel and Haiwei Iron and Steel, the two largest steelmakers in Lvliang City, Shanxi, will consolidate themselves into a new steel group called Lvliang Iron and Steel Group by the end of 2011. With a capacity of 3.6 million tons per year, Zhongyang Steel is a large country-level steelmaker with businesses covering coal mining, coal dressing, ore dressing, pig iron making, steel making, steel rolling and electricity generation. Haiwei Steel is a big non-government mill with a capacity of three million tons. The new group has potential to become the second largest steelmaker, after Tisco, in the province.
