Steel under Highlights of M&A

Industry and Information Technology minister Li Yizhong said China will continue to boost the restructuring of its industry and the transformation of economic development pattern over the next five years.

We will focus on guiding and promoting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to foster an energetic development mode conducive to the more efficient allocation of resources.

A coordination panel of several government departments led by the Ministry of Industry and Information and Technology will be set up to take into account of M&A activities between enterprises and look into major problems arising from the practice.

A priority of merger activities will be given to the auto, steel, cement, machinery manufacturing, electrolytic-aluminum and rare earth sectors.
