New Iron Ore Belt Found in Xinjiang

An iron ore belt with a preliminary reserve of 300 million tons and a prospective reserve of more than 1.5 billion tons has been found in Tajik Autonomous County of Taxkorgan, Xinjiang, according to the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration of Xinjiang.

Since 2007, the bureau has spent 200 million yuan on prospecting for mineral deposits in an area of 6,000 square meters around the Awulale areas of the West Tianshan Mountains, identifying up to two billion tons of iron ore resources.
