The European Union's decision to conduct anti-dumping probes against Chinese-made seamless pipe has prompted reaction among producers in Wenzhou, an important production and export base of stainless seamless pipe in China's eastern Zhejiang Province.
Eight private producers in the region are filling in questionnaires so as to defend themselves against the overseas charges, said the Stainless Steel Industry Association of Wenzhou City.
On September 30, 2010, the EU officially launched a 15-month anti-dumping investigation into the imports of stainless seamless pipe from China during the period from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
Customs data showed Zhejiang Province exported more than $30 million stainless pipe to the European Union during the 12-month period ended June 30 this year, more than half of those amount came from producers in Wenzhou.
