Recently, ten associations in northern Mexico appealed that the government should provide the convenience for the planters who plant transgenic maize. They are dissatisfied with the government who always neglect the transgenic maize. This affected the competitiveness of Mexican corn industry in a certain extent.
Corn is the staple food in Mexico. It imports 9,000,000 tons of corn every year. It has accounted for 30% in the domestic consumption. The majority is transgenic maize among the import.
