China

Chinese stocks closed higher Thursday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 1.59 percent, or 44.10 points, to 2,818.16 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 3.07 percent, or 362.59 points, to 12,170.51 points.

Hong Kong stocks closed down 455. 41 points, or 1.97 percent, at 22,708.62 on Thursday.

Japan

Tokyo stocks closed slightly lower Thursday with the key Nikkei index down 0.11 percent.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average dropped 12.18 points from Wednesday to 10,605.65. The broader Topix index advanced 2.61 points, or 0.28 percent, to 946.63.

Australia

Australian stocks rose slightly at today's close, as the All Ords wrapped up the session above 5000 for the first time in nearly 10 months.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index gained 9.6 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 4914.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 6.6 points (0.13 per cent) to 5001.70.
