Chinese stocks crept higher Friday on the back of surging Shanghai construction related shares, after local media reported that a series of building projects will start in the city this year.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.33 percent, or 9.17 points, to 2,827.33 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1 percent, or 121.98 points, to 12,292.49 points.
Hong Kong stocks closed up 120. 30 points, or 0.53 percent, at 22,828.92 on Friday.
Japan
Tokyo stocks closed Friday for a national holiday.
Australia
The Australian share market was moderately weaker on Friday as investors took profits after digesting mixed earnings results and the impact of civil unrest in Egypt.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index edged 33.5 points, or 0.68 percent, lower at 4,880.9 points.
The broader All Ordinaries index fell 31.1 points, or 0.62 percent, to 4,970.6.
