China

Chinese shares closed mixed on Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 6.19 points, or 0.21 percent, at 2,984.01.

The Shenzhen Component Index declined 66.55 points, or 0.51 percent, at 12,875.52.

Hong Kong stocks fell 90.48 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 23,068.19 Monday. The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 22,952.43 and 23, 261.68.

Japan

The Nikkei average fell on Monday after weekend reports of soaring radiation levels at the quake-damaged nuclear plant.

The benchmark Nikkei finished down 57.60 points, or 0.6 percent, at 9,478.53. The broader Topix index ended the day marginally higher at 857.85.

Australia

The Australian share market closed in the red amid concerns of Japan's nuclear problems and increasing tensions in Yemen.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down nine points, or 0.19 percent, at 4,733.6 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index increased 8.4 points, or 0.17 percent, at 4,831.9 points.
