Former Portugal, South Africa and Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has turned down an invitation from the Iranian Football Federation (FFI) Monday to coach the country's national team.

"All of Queiroz's requests had been accepted by us, but he informed tonight and that he could not accept the offer for private reasons," Ali Kafashian told TV sports programme 90.

According to the FFI chief, Queiroz refused the job offer because his family members were not ready to live in Iran for the next three years, though all technical and financial details were accepted by Queiroz.

Reports of Tehran media previously said that the deal with Queiroz was almost finalized, with the famous coach having even appointed his three assistants.
