Argentine coach Claudio Borghi on Thursday was presented as the new coach of the Chilean national soccer team replacing Marcelo Bielsa.
During a press conference in the National Association of Professional Soccer (ANFP), Borghi said that "after almost 20 years of being in this country, it is proud for me to coach the team and represent this country."
Borghi was champion with Colo Colo in Chile and with Junior in Argentina. He said that his contract will last till the elimination and depending on the results it could be expanded till the World Cup of Brazil 2014.
"We began working today at noon (Thursday), despite still there are things to end with Bielsa," he said.
Borghi said that he feels "capable, because we know the sector, we know most of the players. And we will see if we can use the position that Bielsa left us."
Bielsa left the national team at the beginning of February amid a strong controversy with the ANFP directives.
Borghi also said: "I knew the support of the players and the love of the people. I have the phone number of all the players, but I have not talk with them for not influencing them. From now on, I will contact them to see if they are ready and to introduce myself to those who do not know me."
