The Indonesian Education League through a student exchange program will send selected soccer players to study at general and football schools in Japan, Kompas daily reported on Friday.
The intention emerged following a signing of memorandum of understanding between the league and Bina Antarbudaya Foundation to send four players to study football at clubs of Barcelona (Spain) and Bayern Munich (Germany) for a year starting in September 2012.
It is expected that other players will be sent to Japan in March 2012.
Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir, head of National Committee for the Indonesian Education League, said that beside players, coaches and teachers will have an opportunity to study abroad too.
Mutohir said that the players could stay in Japan for three months to one year. For the first phase, two players plus two teachers or coaches will be sent to the country.
"Soccer learning system in Japan is different compared to Europe. In Japan, students learn soccer at schools, not at soccer clubs," said Mutohir.
According to Mutohir, Japanese schools have their own soccer clubs that join competitions.
" In Japan, academic and soccer activities become one in schools while in Europe they are separated," he said.
