Shanghai Shenhua held J-League outfit Kashima Antlers in a fruitless match at a Group H match of the 2011 AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

Shenhua, the third-ranked team in last season's Chinese Super League, showed some poor performance in attacking in the lacklustre game. And Antlers were also in low form before the new J-League season.

The vistors had better organization in the offence, but lacked the cutting edge in the box. Shenhua created two good chances in the second half, but Salmeron Luis squandered both.

The newly-signed Argentine striker missed a fine volley pass from Jiang Kun in the area in the 54th minute, before firing a curved shot to be saved by a focused Sogahata Hitoshi following right back Wu Xi's defence-spliting pass on 65 minutes.
