PetroChina Co. is producing more than 77 million cubic meters of natural gas a day from its second-largest oil and gas field, Changqing, an increase of 19% from a year ago, as it seeks to meet growing winter demand, parent China National Petroleum Corp. said in an inhouse newsletter on Jan. 27. Daily gas output has now reached the maximum that the field can produce, CNPC said. It didn't specify the current level of oil output.
PetroChina produced 10.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Changqing in the first half of last year, or 60 million cubic meters a day, up 13.5% on year, the company said previously. Oil and gas output from Changqing reached a record of 35 million tons last year, or 702,877 barrels of oil equivalent a day, up 17% from 2009, CNPC said. PetroChina targets combined oil and gas annual output from Changqing of 50 million tons of oil equivalent by 2015.
