Fuel surcharges are raised due to rising cost of jet fuel.
Some Chinese airlines will raise passenger fuel surcharges today due to the rising cost of jet fuel, the third hike this year.
Surcharges will rise to 80 yuan from 60 yuan for flights less than 800 kilometers and to 140 yuan from 110 yuan for long haul flights longer than 800 kilometers, said airlines on their websites Wednesday, including Air China Ltd., China Eastern Airlines Corp., China Southern Airlines Co., and Sichuan Airlines Co.
Yet China Southern and HNA said they have no plan to lift fuel surcharges yet.
The last hike was on April 8 by Chinese arilines after the government increased the price of jet fuel by 500 yuan a ton to 6,840 yuan.
