Sinopec Group, one of China's oil giants, announced Tuesday that it had found two highly-productive natural gas wells in Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The two wells in Sichuan's Yuanba District are capable of daily producing 940,000 cubic meters and 1.36 million cubic meters of natural gas respectively.
The Yuanba area is a significant field for Sinopec's natural gas exploration. The company started exploring this area in 2006.
The company said that the development of the natural gas in this area would play a significant role in ensuring the country's energy security, improving the energy structure and fueling the local economic growth.
