Recent data from iResearch Consulting Group shows that the overall value of China's e-commerce market stood at 1.5 trillion yuan during the first quarter of 2011, an increase of nearly 8 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, showing a slowing trend in the growth rate.
The main reason for the slowdown is that the first quarter of the year is traditionally the offseason for internal and external trade, which directly resulted in the slowdown of the B2B transaction volume growth rate. Furthermore, the first quarter of the year is also the offseason for online shopping.
