Auto sales regain momentum in Beijing

The sales volume of new cars in Beijing picked up in March and the auto market has continued to warm in April 2011.
The sales volume of new cars in Beijing stood at 25,500 in March 2011, an increase of more than 43 percent compared with February, and the sales volume of second-hand cars stood at 18,477, an increase of nearly 157 percent compared with February, according to the Asian Games Village Automobile Exchange Market.
The total sales volume of new cars and second-hand cars in Beijing stood at 61,336 and 31,819 respectively in the first quarter of 2011, a decline of 116,322 and 73,652 compared with the same period of 2010.
In addition, the sales volume of new cars and second-hand cars in Beijing also showed a negative growth in March compared with the same period of 2010.
However, the significant month-on-month growth shows that the auto market is starting to warm again. Several auto dealers said that the customer flow volume has significantly increased since April.
In addition, the proportion of imported car sales also increased. The sales volume of imported cars in Beijing stood at 3,134 in March, accounting for more than 12 percent of the total trade volume of new vehicles in Beijing, and an increase of 21 percent compared with February. The total trade volume of imported cars in Beijing reached 8,345 in the first quarter of 2011.
