ZTE to fight Ericsson's patent infringement lawsuit

An IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) infringement lawsuit filed by Ericsson against ZTE Corporation recently attracted wide attention from the telecommunications industry. ZTE announced on April 7 that it has hired lawyers to actively respond to the lawsuit and defend its interests.
ZTE (UK) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, recently received a statement of claim from the High Court of England and Wales in London in which Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson alleges that ZTE (UK) had infringed Ericsson's patent technologies in several of its mobile phone models and required ZTE (UK) to discontinue the infringement and compensate for Ericsson's losses.
According to media reports, Ericsson will also file IPR infringement lawsuits against ZTE in Italy and Germany. ZTE has not yet received official documents related to the IPR infringement lawsuits in Italy and Germany.
Data from ZTE s annual report for 2010 shows that the proportion of ZTE's turnover in the United Kingdom to their total turnover was very low, so the lawsuit will not have a major impact on the company's financial conditions and operating results for the current fiscal period.
