Report: 9.7 percent of China's GDP from seas

China's seas generated 3.8 trillion yuan, or 9.7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) of China last year, according to a report on the country's marine economy in 2010.
The report, issued by the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), said last year's added value of marine industries reached 2.2 trillion yuan and ocean-related industry's added value reached 1.6 trillion yuan. Marine primary industry s added value amounted to 206.7 billion yuan; added value of marine secondary industry was 1.8 trillion yuan and that of the tertiary industry reached 1.8 trillion yuan.
In 2010, 33.5 million were employed in industries related to ocean, 800,000 more than 2009.
