State oil giants shut taps, exit from Libya

China's three major State-owned oil and gas companies have evacuated all their Chinese employees out of Libya, the companies said.
China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), parent of PetroChina, said it has halted production operations and sealed equipment in Libya and evacuated all of its 391 Chinese employees.
The top Chinese oil and gas firm said in a company newspaper its last group of employees had arrived safely in Tunisia on Sunday and would fly back to China.
The China Petroleum Daily report did not disclose CNPC's businesses in Libya, other than saying many projects were in the Libyan desert.
Some of its project camps and operating sites had been attacked, China National Petroleum Corp said last week.
All 77 Chinese employees of China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC), parent of CNOOC Ltd, have left Libya and the last batch were scheduled to arrive in Beijing last night, the company said in a statement on its website.
Sinopec Group, the parent of Sinopec Corp, had only seven employees in Libya and all of them returned to Beijing on Sunday.
China's Ministry of Commerce has said 75 Chinese companies have operations in Libya and China had evacuated almost 16,000 of its 30,000 citizens by Saturday. Chinese living in Libya work mainly in oil, rail and telecom sectors.
