The cities were also ordered to publish, before the end of March, the annual "controlled" price targets for new homes.
The government has implemented a series of measures since last year, including higher down payment and lending rates, and bans on mortgage loans for third homes, to curb speculation in the housing market.
Soaring housing prices have become a major concern for urban Chinese, who are increasingly finding homes are unaffordable. Home prices in some major cities such as Beijing have more than doubled over the past two years.
