Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said here Wednesday that China welcomes Jardine Matheson Group's intentions to increase its investment in China.
Wang made the remark when meeting with Sir Henry Keswick, chairman of Jardine Matheson Group, in Beijing.
During the meeting, Keswick expressed Jardine Matheson's intentions to greatly increase its exposure in China's mainland in the coming decades.
Founded as a trading company in China in 1832, Jardine Matheson is today a diversified business group focused principally on Asia. The London stock market-listed group has steadily increased its investment in China since it returned to the mainland market in 1979.
Sir Henry Keswick, the sixth generation of the Scottish family who own the business, has travelled to China many times during the past 15 years.
