The J6 heavy-duty vehicle and its diesel engine developed by FAW Group won first prize at the 2010 State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in the middle of January. It has been granted 193 patents - 15 of them inventions - and two software copyrights.
Imported heavy-duty vehicles have traditionally been dominant in high-speed logistics, mining, oil and hydropower due to the lack of high quality heavy-duty vehicles developed by domestic manufacturers.
The J6 has passed the TV Rheinland Europe emission certification and the Europe 1 million km durability test by Austrian company Magna Steyr. It has also earned certification for export to Russia and Iran. FAW has now sold 86,000 J6 vehicles.
