Imported optical fiber hit with anti-dumping

China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced Wednesday that it will impose temporary anti-dumping measures on optical fibers imported from the United States and countries in European Union.
The Preliminary Ruling will require importers of dispersion un-shifted single-mode optical fibers, a material used in high-speed and long-distance telecom transmissions, to place deposits starting February 18, according to a statement on the MOC website.
The deposit rates for the optical fiber imported from the US range from 4.7 percent to 18.6 percent and from 17.7 percent to 29.1 percent for the EU.
The statement said companies from these regions had dumped these fibers on the Chinese market, causing substantial damage to the domestic industry.
The MOC launched an anti-dumping probe in April into optical fiber products imported from the US and EU.
