Chongqing closed 300 small coal mines in 2010

A total of more than 300 small coal mines were shut down in Chongqing municipality, which marked the completion of tasks set by the city government one month in advance, according to news from the Work Conference on Coal Mines in 2010.
The coal mine-related accidents hit a new low in 2010 and there were no major ones, according to local officials.
There were 143 events and 183 deaths in 2010 compared to 126 events and 234 deaths in 2009.
