The Mumbai couture week opened on Wednesday with Manish Malhotra unveiling his bridal creations ahead of the wedding season in India.
The lehengas, traditional Indian long shirts, were tiered or paneled and edged with velvet or brocade borders.
Men's wear was just as ornate in the similar color segments with long coats and bundgalas.
Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the showstopper for Malhotra and wore a white corset blouse teamed with a white layered lehenga.
A former Miss World who's one of India's most famous female faces, Rai Bachchan was a known model before becoming a Bollywood superstar.
She said nothing much had changed since her last appearance on the catwalk.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, "I kept saying backstage, nothing has changed..there is the usual organized chaos before the show, that is great, because there is high energy, everybody is getting their garments together, getting their positions together to put on a successful show, and I find that wonderful because, we just keep smiling and say 'Oh my god' it's still the same, everybody is running about, trying to get their act together, that apart I think we were calming Manish down."
