China: "Light of Textile" Lighten the Innovation

2009 CNTAC Technology & Education Award Unveiled in Beijing

Nov. 26th, “the Light of Textile” 2009 China National Textile & Apparel Council Technology and Education Award ceremony held in Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

In this year, 144 programs were granted the Light of Textile Technology awards. Of which, “Soft Compound Fiber (Stable Fiber & Filament Fiber) Equipment and Integration Reseach” and other eight programs won the First Class awards; “Woven Fabric Destin and Dye Bath New Process” and other 53 programs won the Second Class awards; “sheath core Bicomponent Composite Spunbonded Nonwoven Fabric Equipment Research” and other 80 programs won the Third Class awards. For the Light of Textile Education awards, 16 programs won the First Class awards; 25 as the Second Class; 58 as the Third Class. Besides, 14 teachers won the Light of Textile Teacher’s awards; 102 students won the Light of Textile scholarships.

Du Yuzhou, the President of CNTAC said that all the awarded programs this year were excellent in their fields. More and more advanced technology such as digital technology got application in textile industry. Accroding to Du, the hinderance of the commercialization of those technolgoy included the theory research and level of elaboration. Those research achievements couldnot stay in the lab, but put into practice. This time, those awarded programs made visible progress in this point.

“In the post-crisis era, China textile industry began to recovery. We should take the choose to march into the textile super power county.” Du also suggested that: 1. focus in the high-tech in this industry, take over the key point; 2. promote the advanced technology into the enterprises; 3. establish some public science and technology service platform; 4. encourage the institute and R&D centers to make effort in the theory research; 5. enhance the education level to cultivate the professional and talents.

“206 programs applied the technology awards this year, invloving in textile, chemial fiber, industrial textile, dyeing automation. The assessment groups divided into nine sections to evaluate those programs.” Li Jinbao, the Director the Technology Devleopment Department of CNTAC introduced the assessment process. Nine programs were recommend to compete in the national technology awards.

Li said, since 2004 of the first session, the Light of Textile awards had gotten more and more attention from the enterprises, colleges and the related organizations and government departments. Up to now, 675 programs had won this honor. This played an important role in spuring the interest from technicians, and promoting the application of R&D results into the industry.

On the basis of textile technology awards, CNTAC recommend programs to compete the national technology awards. For five years, 24 textile programs won national technology awards (two as the First Class awards, 21 as the Second Class awards). Winning the national level honor strengthen the technician’s sense of honor and resposibility. It played an key role in the progress of the development of industry technology.
