Hong Kong's overall consumer prices hiked 0.5% in September over the same month last year, following a 1.6% drop in August, according to the Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong.
Netting out the effects of the local government's one-off relief measures, the year-on-year rate of change for the month was 0.3% down, the same as August. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the average monthly rate of change for the period from July to September was 0.3% down.
Year-on-year price increases were recorded for alcohol and tobacco at 23%, clothing and footwear at 4.5%, miscellaneous goods at 1.5% and housing at 0.7%.
