According to Customs Bureau, the import and export of China were 164.127 billion USD in May, down 25.9% from same period last year. The accumulated import and export from Jan. to May reached 763.491 billion USD, down 24.7%.
The accumulated export of textiles (excluded those in Chaper 94) in first five months were 22.029 billion USD, down 15.5% from same period last year. For May alone, the export was 4.895 billion USD, down 4.40% on a monthly basis. While the accumulated export of garment and accessories in first five months were 36.823 billion USD, down 8.1% from same period last year. For May alone, the export was 7.411 billion USD, up 0.52% on a monthly basis.
One expert commented that the export data accorded with the anticipation. The weak export situation was expected to last till the end of this year. Since the economic recovery in overseas markets was still uncertain, the domestic demand had to lead the recovery of China economy.
