Fashion brands Izzue and b+ab opened their flagship stores in the Village of Sanlitun late last month, offering a selection from their 09 Spring Summer collection.

Izzue's 36 designs include 24 from its casual and 12 from its high-end line. The outfits for women feature large, dark green camouflage patterns, boots and tight jackets. The dresses and shirts are torn and ripped. "Boyfriend jackets", bat sleeves, mini pants, and dotted leggings reinforce the idea of "chic girl power".

Rugged backpacks and berets feature prominently in the men's collection. The casual wear, mostly in black and white, and with slim cuts, includes elements of formal dressing. For example, the shirt collars are nearly all straight.

Reflecting the popularity of the safari theme this season, women's brand b+ab turned its catwalk stage into something straight out of an African grassland. The models were clothed in check-patterned shirts, body-hugging jeans, and printed tees, reminiscent of 1960s Africa.

There were also four designs from the b+ab high fashion line which had a distinct sci-fi look, with their loose trousers, black lantern-like sleeves, printed silk skirts and high-waist pants. The black ruffle vests added to the theme of the whole collection.
