According to Hebei Provincial government, the quality supervision department plans to regulate the local towel market, and realize 95% qualification rate in three years. This action is directed against the products using low quality cotton yarn and dyestuff, and to promote the technology innovation and industry upgrading.
Towel is the major products in Hebei textile industry, accounting for 38% of the national total output. The annul production is more than four billion pieces, valued 15 billion yuan. The towel manufacturers mainly locate in Gaoyang and Lixian. Most of them are small scale, with behindhanded machinery and equipment, and make low-end products. The inspection results also show low qualification rate for years.
The supervision department plans to start from the headstream to restrain the bad quality raw material into industry chain, and standardize the label and mark on the package to trace the producer and components.
