The Chinese mainland imported goods worth 684 million U.S. dollars from Taiwan in the first quarter of 2011, which enjoyed tariff preferences totaling 127 million yuan under the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), according to the General Administration of Customs.
The goods that enjoyed tariff preferences account for more than 8 percent of the mainland s total imports from Taiwan.
Statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that the value of the mainland s imports that enjoy ECFA tariff preferences increased 46 percent compared with the same period of 2010.
Therefore, the ECFA s promotion of importing products from Taiwan to the mainland has shown initial results.
According to sources, the mainland imported a total of 327 million U.S. dollars of ECFA products from Taiwan in March 2011, a sequential increase of 135 percent compared with February. This figure is close to the total value of goods that enjoyed ECFA tariff preferences in January and February.
