Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park is located in the suburban area of Boshan District, Zibo City, Shandong Province.

Distinctions:

Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park is a national-level (AAAA) scenic spot. It is an area whose outstanding natural beauty mainly come from the mountain scenery and karst landform. There are three distinctive scenic spots in Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park: the Great Wall Constructed by Qi State (during the period of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States), Taishan Xinggong (imperial palace for short stays away from the capital temporary dwelling palace of an emperor when away from the capital) and Stone Sea. Theses are all scenic spots that are worth visiting.

Brief Introduction:

Approved by the Ministry of Forestry, Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park was established in 1992, with the planning area of 1702 hectares. Yuanshan Mountain is composed of four big mountain systems including Wanglu Mountain, Yuwang Mountain, Yueyang Mountain and Hushan Mountain. Yuanshang Mountain used to be an important site for religious acyivities in the history. During the period of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States, it was of vital importance in military, so it was the battle field of military strategists.

The landscape resources of Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park consists of the majestic mountain scenery, beautiful botanical landscape, unique astronomical and water landscape and rich and centuried human landscape. There are five big scenic spots in Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park: Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Spot, Yuwang Mountain Scenic Spot, Wanglu Mountain Scenic Spot, Xuejia Mountain-top Scenic Spot and Jiagu Tai (Jiagu Terrace) Scenic Spot.

In Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park, mountains are steep, landforms are unique sceneries are beautiful and human landscape and natural landscape are rich. Besides, there are many facilities and area for entertainment and body-building. So, in Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park, tourists can enjoy eating, living, sight-seeing, shopping and entertaining.

In the luxuriant forests of Yuanshan Mountain, there are Yu Huang Gong (Palace of Jade Emperor) built in Song Dynasty, Hong Men (Red Gate) made in Ming Dynasty, Taishan Xinggong (imperial palace for short stays away from the capital temporary dwelling palace of an emperor when away from the capital), Lvzu Temple built in Qing Dynasty and so on.

On the sheer cliffs, there is a large cliff painting presenting the five-thousand-year history of Chinese people. The Great Wall Constructed by Qi State during the Warring States Period (475 B.C. – 221 B.C.) runs across the whole park. It is said that the story “Mengjiangnv (the oldest daughter of Family Jiang) Weeping over the Great Wall” came into being here.

Apart from the rich cultural heritage, there are natural sceneries like the spectacular Stone Sea (formed due to karstification) which was the subject of the works of the scholars in the history.

In Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park, there are also songs and dances of minority ethnic groups and performances of wild animals. Every year, Yuanshan Mountain Mount Climb Festival and Yuanshan Mountain Red Leaf Festival are held here. There are over 30 main scenic spots here including the Qi Chang Cheng (Great Wall Built by Qi State), Bei Guo Shi Hai (Stone Sea in Northern China), Cliff Painting, Forests Playground, Min Su Feng Qing Yuan (Folk-custom Park), Niao Yu Lin (Forest of Birds’ Singing), Yun Bu Bridge, Kong Long Gu (Dinosaur Valley), Gu Zhan Chang Yi Zhi (Ruins of Ancient Battlefield), Shi Hai Zhan Bridge, Ai Wan Pavilion, Wang Hai Tower, Gu Pao Lou (Ancient Blockhouse), Qi Lu Li Shi Ming Ren Yuan (Garden introducing celebrities born here in the history), Yu Huang Gong (Palace of Jade Emperor), Taishan Xinggong, Lvzu Temple, Gu Zhan Chuan (Ancient Warships), San Shi Liu Ji Yan Diao (Rock Carvings on the Thirty-Six Stratagems) and so on.

How to Get There:

Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park is about 40 kilometers (about 24.85 miles) from Zibo Railway Station, about a 30-minute drive. It is 4 kilometers (about 2.49 miles) from the Bus Station, about a 10-minute drive.

Tourists can take Bus 11, 13, 15, 17, 49, Bus, 98, 113 or 117 at Boshan Bus Station and get off at the stop of Yuan Shan Lin Chang (Yuanshan Tree Farm) first. Ad then ,they just need to walk along the mountain road for 5 or 6 minutes to get to the ticket office of Yuanshan Mountain National Forest Park.
