Mr. Xie Fuzhan Interviewed International Statistical Consultant of NBS

Mr. Xie Fuzhan, Commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics, had a cordial meeting with Ms. Carson, Former Director of IMF Statistics Department, and International Statistical Consultant of NBS, who came to Beijing to participate in International Income and Wealth Special Session on September 19.

Mr. Xie Fuzhan thanked Ms. Carson for the attention and enthusiastic support on the reform and development of China statistical system with the international process, especially the positive contributions on the Chinese government statistical works to participate in the GDDS, and thanked for the recommendations and concerns on the China s statistical works. Mr. Xie emphasized that, under the new situation of the global economy, China s statistics must keep pace with international statistics, and conscientiously study and research, accelerate the pace of reform, doing well on database building and other infrastructure work, and actively participated in international statistical research activities. Mr. Xie hoped that Ms. Carson will continue to show concern on the China s statistics, and more cutting-edge information on international statistical theory and practice.

Ms. Carson briefed the progress of updating work of the 1993 SNA, and hoped to hear more views and suggestions about updating work from NBS, particularly in the informal sector accounts part. Ms. Carson, also gave good suggestions on the internal website of NBS, and expressed that she would like to contribute her efforts on China s statistical data release system by the General Data Dissemination Standard (GDDS) to the more advanced and stringent Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS).
