The Producers' Price Index Up by 3 Percent in February


In February, the producers price index (PPI) for manufactured goods over the same month of the previous year was up by 3 percent, the purchasing prices for raw materials, fuels and power was up by 6.8 percent.

Among the producers price index (PPI) for manufactured goods, the prices for means of production were up by 4.2 percent. of which, extractive industry was up by 25.2 percent, materials industry up by 6.4 percent, processing industry up by 0.1 percent. Means of subsistence was down by 0.4 percent. of which, food down by 1 percent, clothing up by 1.7 percent, articles for daily use up by 0.7 percent, consumer durables down by 2.4 percent.

In terms of different categories:

--The producers prices for crude oil were up by 43.1 percent, with an influence of 1.3 percent points to the general level of the producers price index (PPI) for manufactured goods. Among the oil products, the prices for gasoline, kerosene and diesel oil were up by 25.9, 24.5 and 23.7 percent respectively.

-- in the category of chemical products, the price of polystyrene was up by 1.9 percent, while polybutadiene rubber down by 4.1 percent, and terylene filament down by 3.3 percent.

--The producers prices for coal exploitation, washing and selecting industry were up by 9.3 percent. of which, producers price for coal was up by 8.8 percent, down by 3.6 percent points.

--The producers prices for the smelting and pressing of ferrous metals industry were 7.6 percent. of which, general large rolled steel down by 5.6 percent, while medium rolled steel down by 10.7 percent, and small rolled steel down by .1 percent, wires down by 9.7 percent, medium and thick armor plate down by 18 percent.

--The producers prices for the smelting and pressing of nonferrous metals were up by 15.3 percent. of which, the markup of producers prices for copper , aluminum, plumbum, and zincum were between 8.5 percent to 33.7 percent.

In addition, Among the purchasing prices for raw materials, fuels and power, fuels, non-ferrous metal materials and chemical materials were up by 17.8, 19.2 and percent, respectively, while ferrous metal materials down by 1.1 percent.

Compared with the same period of the previous year, from January to February, the producers price index (PPI) for manufactured goods was up by 3 percent, the purchasing prices for raw materials, fuels and power was up by 6.6 percent.
