Three Gorges Project(TGP) Turbo-Generator Units Installation by CGGC Brushed New World Record

Ceremony for Official Operation of No. 17 Unit on Right Bank of TGP
No. 17 turbo-generator unit on right bank of Three Gorges Hydroelectric Project (TGP) was put into commercial operation at 16:30 on 27 Dec 2007, which was the fourth domestic unit installed and put into operation in the power plant on right bank of TGP in 2007 by CGGC. It established a new world record of large turbo-generator units (4 x 700MW) with installed capacity of 2800MW installed and put into operation in a project by a Chinese enterprise within a year.
As the largest HPP in the world, TGP will have 32 sets of turbo-generator units (700MW for each) as designed. 8 sets out of the 12 sets in the power plant on right bank are made in China with independent intellectual property rights and installed by CGGC.
CGGC grew up Chinese style techniques of fast installation of large turbo-generator units during the installation of large China-made units in TGP through experience summary and workmanship innovation. It is identified by TGP RB Units Start-up Committee that the consecutive four China-made units under operation were installed by CGGC faster and better as of 10 July 2007.
A world record was established in Itaipu HPP in Brazil with annual installation of two units (700MW for each), which was brushed new by CGGC in the power plant on left bank of TGP in 2003. A new criteria was set up in the international hydroelectric field by the same company in 2007 with annual installation of four units (700MW).
In addition to the said works, 15 sets of units of over 10 large and medium HPP such as Shuibuya HPP and Longtan HPP were also installed by CGGC with installed capacity of 5140MW, approximately half of the total capacity in China for new units.
