TCL Won the Emmy Award with Its Core Technique in Color TV

Las Vegas, Nevada 1/8/2007 - 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow opened in Las Vegas today. TCL, China's leading consumer electronics producer, came onto the stage of this showcase, which also attracted the other world famous CE brand such as SONY and SAMSUNG, with more than 60 latest innovative products and new techniques in TV.

In the evening of the Jan 8, awarding ceremony of the 58th Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards was held on CES.

RCA Company, which is subject to TCL, won the Emmy Award of American National Television Academy for its outstanding achievement in On-Screen Display (OSD) technology. The breakthrough achievement in digital television display was highly appreciated and acknowledged with its advancement in setting, control and adjustment of TV sets.

The Emmy Awards honorees were chosen by the judging penal of National Television Academy; the Academy Technology & Engineering Awards honorees were chosen by judging panel of industry insiders.

We are extremely excited that the achievement was acknowledged by insiders from National Television Academy, it was achieved by group efforts of engineers and designers. The award is a big event, it is also a great honor for those dedicated in improving the interaction of human and TV sets with their brilliance." said Greg Bosler, executive vice-president of TCL Multi-media, North America.

OSD technology simplified the interactive methods between human and TV sets. The National Television Academy acknowledged the leading position of RCA in the specific field. OSD, which used to be a fantastic dream in the laboratory now come into existence. TCL Multi-media made during the study of digital HDTV with a lower cost, it has made the products more competitive.

Except OSD, TCL presents more than 50 flat pedal displays and DV cameras as well as 18 RCA products. RCA Scenium flat pedal HDTV is also presented at the show, all these made the most impressive presentation of TCL at CES.

Moreover, the CE industry giant from China also brought its advanced flat pedal concept products including super DLP sets with 3D gaming and 3D high definition functions, portable wireless HDTV with a handle on and high definition LCD TV sets capable for Internet and Intel Viiv. In the development of these products, TCL adopted the world class independent technology and design.

Li Dongshen, chairman of TCL said that TCL's winning of the Technology & Engineering Emmy Award can be a milestone of China s multinational company since it is the first time for Chinese companies to win the award. In 2006, TCL expanded its business in North America and has made some progresses. It not only took a leading opportunity for developing digital television but also achieved some historic breakthrough in the management of company.

Li added that the North America market is the largest for consumer electronics in the world, TCL Group has set up a goal of becoming the world leading consumer electronics provider and a competitive manufacturer on basis of its leading capacity in the development of flat digital and pedal TV sets and its productivity. And TCL will show up in the top CE shows with increased frequency and provide the consumers with more and more innovative CE products with better quality.

According to the statistics of an official survey for the first half of 2006 released by Ministry of Information Industry of the People's Republic of China, TCL held the first place in the market with a share of 21%. In the third quarter of 2006, sales of TCL LCD TV sets increased by 164%. Statistics from a survey of China Market Monitor (www.monitor.com.cn) indicates that in September, the market share of TCL was 11%. TCL has been the first place holder in China, and the sales volume is increasing in the new market including the North America.

Furthermore, on Jan 8, the awarding ceremony of Top 10 Brands from China was held in MGM Hotel. The Top 10 list includes TCL, Lenovo, BenQ, etc. the Top 10 event was held by International Data Group (IDG) and Reed Business Information (RBI), co-sponsored by world leading market research institution IDC. The Top 10 Brands were selected by over 3,000,000 cyber citizens and further assessed by 50 industry insiders. It is a common view of the insiders that this event is a great show of the leading CE manufacturers in China who may lead the direction of the CE industry in China.
