TCL Corporation Revisits Silk Road, Promotes Asian Games with Road of Asia

Road of Asia land route inauguration ceremony

September 3 saw the inauguration of the land portion of Road of Asia, a large-scale cultural and sports exchange program aimed at promoting the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, in Guangzhou. TCL Branding Center Market Director Mr. Chen Bingfeng attended the motorcade setting-up ceremony and presented the Road of Asia flag to the motorcade.

As a Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games partner, TCL Corporation will mobilize both its domestic and overseas offices to provide technical and hardware support for Road of Asia to revisit the ancient Silk Road and to promote both the Asian Games spirit "Thrilling Games, Harmonious Asia" and Chinese culture.

Having already revisited the Maritime Silk Road, Road of Asia is now hitting the road again to complete the land portion of its mission to promote the 2010 Asian Games. TCL Corporation will travel with the Road of Asia motorcade from Guangzhou to Xi an, the starting point of the Silk Road, where a welcome ceremony will be held.

The motorcade will cross the Horgas Pass in Xinjiang to enter Mongolian and the five Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The motorcade will make a stop at such historically important cities along the Silk Road as Taraz, Shymkent, Samarqand, Buxoro, and Mary. During the 12,000-kilometer journey, TCL Corporation and the motorcade of Road of Asia will hold events like press conferences, fun runs, Le Yangyang Goes to Asia, collection of well wishes, and photo exhibitions to promote the "Fun Games, Fun Party" spirit.

Mr. Chen stated that "TCL Corporation has always seen sports development both as the company s corporate social responsibility and as an important branding strategy that demonstrates passion and creativity. By supporting Road of Asia s mission to revisit the ancient Silk Road, TCL Corporation hopes to promote cultural exchange among Asian nations as well as express thanks to consumers everywhere."

nspired by the Silk Road, Road of Asia is designed to "embrace Asia with the two Silk Roads." The historical Silk Road had long served as a transportation artery between the East and the West. Before the land trip, Road of Asia flagship the Cocachine had already revisited the Maritime Silk Road. Traveling along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and Southeast Asia in four months at sea, the ship visited about thirty countries and regions before arriving in Guangzhou.

Everywhere it went, the ship was warmly welcomed by local Olympic committees, governments, and residents. TCL Corporation equipped the Cocachine with cutting-edge devices like LCD HDTV, HD display, mobile air conditioner, HD DV so that the crew who doubled as cultural ambassadors could work in a convenient and comfortable environment even while at sea.

The sophisticated onboard equipment also allowed visitors from all over Asia to enjoy a lifelike multimedia experience.

Accompanying the land portion of Road of Asia, TCL Corporation will hold a series of events in Central Asia to promote the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games. By taking advantage of as ideal and resource-rich a broadcast platform as the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, TCL Corporation hopes to get closer to local consumers with innovative products, technologies, and services.

The company will also select lucky consumers and overseas volunteers to participate in next year s Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, where they will have a chance to experience Chinese culture and the excitement of the Asian Games up close and personal.
