An oven baking ceremony was held for No. 4 coke oven of Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. on December 20, 2009. As a part of the 2nd Phase coking plant, this facility was undertaken by MCC Shijiu Construction Co., Ltd. (Shijiu). General Manager Liu Daide, Vice General Manager Jiang Yifeng and Vice Chief Engineer Ding Shiyong of Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Chairman Tian Ye and Vice General Manager Ding Xiaobo of Shijiu were present at the ceremony and lighted fire for the coke oven. This event symbolized that the countdown for coke production under the contracted project had begun.
The No. 3 and No. 4 coke ovens (JNX3-70-1 type with 60 holes) under the abovementioned project are designed by ACRE Coking & Refractory Engineering Consulting Corporation of MCC (ACRE), as the very first carbonization-chamber coke oven (7m) under construction in China with proprietary intellectual property rights. The output capability of the oven is 1.5 million per annum. Adjustable structure is employed for the regenerative chamber with boxes and grate bricks. Three-segment heating method is adopted for the high-sulfur coal gas, which is featured by tight structure, even heating, high heating efficiency, low investment and long service life. Therefore it is deemed to be a new generation of large coke oven in compliance with the actual conditions in China.
Upon requested by the Employer, the project was undertaken in two stages. Tasks of the first stage included: completion of civil works for main bodies of No. 3 and No. 4 coke ovens; the installation of coke-making system (comprising of furnace construction, pipeline and electric equipment) for No. 4 coke oven; civil works of coal preparation workshop; civil works for coke screening process and be the overall layout; and external public facilities. The 2nd stage was mainly focused on the installation of coke-making system. Adhering to the environment-friendly concept during the project implementation, the Project Division of Shijiu carried out the project management regulations on a full scale and intensified control on safety and quality. Thanks to their painstaking efforts, the coke output date under the 2nd phase project of Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. will be advanced to March 12, 2010, 108 days ahead of the contracted schedule.
