106th Engineering Science and Technology Forum of CAE Held in Wuhan

The 106th Engineering Science and Technology Forum entitled "Modern Surveying and Mapping Science & Technology and Sustainable Development of Information Society" was held in Wuhan from November 1 to 3, 2010. The opening ceremony was presided over by CAE Member Ning Jinsheng, who also gave the opening remarks.

Mr. Li Weisen, Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, also Chairman of the Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC), Mr. Li Qingquan, Executive Vice President of Wuhan University, CAE Member Wang Jingquan, a member of the standing committee of the Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Academic Division of CAE attended the forum and addressed the opening.

A total of 14 CAE Members, together with over 100 specialists coming from institutions of higher learning, enterprises and public institutions in China, were present at the forum.

A total of 28 invited presentations were made at the forum, systematically introducing new progress in modern surveying and mapping science and technology, in modern civil engineering, water conservancy and construction projects, the latest progress in surveying and mapping technological needs, global environmental change and disaster monitoring, digital city and informationalized society etc, as well as the new achievements in the construction of informationalized surveying and mapping system, featuring real-time geographic information data acquisition, process automation, intelligent products, service networking and application socialization. This engineering science and technology forum enjoyed tremendous support by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, along with Wuhan University, which proved to be quite fruitful, with great academic atmosphere and numerous heated discussions.
