DICP Anniversary Memorial Lecture by Prof. Song Chunshan of Penn State University

Prof. Song was invited to give a Memorial Lecture for Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of DICP on 23rd of July at the Lecturing Venue of the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis of DICP. His lecturing topic was "Global Energy Challenges and Role of Catalysis for Sustainable Energy Development." In his lecture, Prof.

Song reviewed the recent advances in the research of catalysis for sustainable energy development, with emphasis on progresses attained by his research team as well as other researchers in the Penn State University in this research field. The lecturing session was chaired by Prof. YANG Weishen of DICP, who presented an Honorary Lecturing Certificate in Memory of the 60th Anniversary of DICP on behalf of the institute to Prof.

Prof. Song is an internationally prominent expert in the areas of clean fuels and catalysis. He is at present Chairman of Petroleum Chemistry Branch & Fuel Chemistry Branch of American Chemical Society, Chairman of International Pittsburg Coal Conference Committee, and Chairperson or Co-Chairperson of more than 35 international conferences. Meanwhile, he is a member of the editorial boards of journals of "Applied Catalysis B: Environmental", "Catalysis Today", "Energy & Fuels", "Research on Chemical Intermediates", "RSC Catalysis", "Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology", "Acta Petrolei Sinica-Petroleum Processing", "Science Paper online-Chemistry and Chemical Engineering", and "Coal Conversion." Prof. Song has published 170 research papers, 15 monographs, more than 200 conference papers, and filed 18 patents.
