Korea Imports Large Quantity Cabbage from China in Order to Stabilize Price

Owing to the influence of foot-and-mouth disease, price of agriculture and aquatic products in Korea rose sharply. Korean government was forced to promote import quantity in order to keep demand and stabilize price.
According to statistics at the beginning of February Korea imported 200 tons cabbage and 300 tons on February 17 from China. And Korea government plan to import 1500 tons cabbage from China before the end of next month. Referring to this Korea Forestry, Fishery and Food Ministry said, price of cabbage was up 2 times over the same period this year. They also said, it is decided to import large quantity of cabbage from China to stabilize price and whole cabbage would be manufactured by pickles factory.
