Universiade infringements uncovered

Write: Lily [2011-05-20]

Some companies were found to be recruiting low-paid part-time jobs by claiming they were for the Universiade. The executive office of the Universiade organizing committee said residents should report infringements to relevant government departments.

We found them recruiting in colleges for so-called part-time volunteers, models and assistants for the Universiade, offering very low payment. In fact, they have nothing to do with us and just want to hire cheap staff, said Zhang Zhihua, vice head of the executive office of the organizing committee.

Zhang said they have uncovered a company recruitment on the Internet which was looking for models to service the Games. It required women aged under 30 and are more than 1.6 meters tall. Apart from the Universiade, they also have to work at other venues, a recruitment manager of the company, surnamed Wang, told yesterday s Guangzhou Daily.

However, the newspaper found that it was a company operating group purchasing of fruit, wine and cosmetics and had no relationship with the Games.

All the activities were infringements and we will take legal actions to deal with them, said Qi Kundong, director of the committee s intellectual property rights office.

The organizing committee has so far investigated and punished 17 infringements, including selling counterfeit and unauthorized Universiade products.

Residents are encouraged to report infringements by calling 12315 and 12312.
