Write: Abe [2011-05-20]

Foreigners and people from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan will be included for the first time on Dongguan's population census which has been set to commence on November 1. The census is a part of China's sixth national population census.

Approximately 60 thousand trained census workers will visit Dongguan's 28 townships and 4 civil parishes to collect information on people's ages, nationality, education level, occupation and population migration, said Mr. Lu Qiyuan, the director of Dongguan Statistics Bureau and the team leader in charge of the census.

The census will also cover other 79 pieces of information, including name, gender, marriage, social security, and housing situation.

According to Mr. Lu Qiyuan, the population in Dongguan is very likely to surpass 8 million this time, 1 million more than the recorded number of the previous census which was carried out in the year of 2000.
