CAS president attends China-Australia symposium

CAS President LU Yongxiang was present at the opening ceremony of the China-Australia Symposium held on 24 November in Canberra.
This was the fifth symposium in a series being organized by CAS, Australian Academy of Science (AAS), and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). The symposia take place annually and alternate between China and Australia. The theme of this year's conference was remote sensing with topics in the areas of energy and mineral exploration, land management and agriculture, water resources, and natural disaster and environmental change.
Also present at the opening were high-level S&T Australian officials, including Australian Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Kim Carr, Australia's Chief Scientist Penny Sackett, AAS President Kurt Lambeck, and ATSE Vice President Peter Laver.
