On September 9, the Beijing Subway Line 4 stop at Beijing South Railway Station had essentially finished installation and testing of its equipment, and the final cleaning stage has begun. Beijing South Railway Station stop on Subway Line 4 is located on the first underground level of the South Railway Station and is the first subway stop in China which realized the so-called "zero distance transfer" to the railway station.

Reporters noted that Beijing South Railway Station is on the ground level and on the first underground level is the Line 4 subway station. Passengers only need to go downstairs or go upstairs to complete the transfer. Without going out of the hall, the passengers can see a large railway timetable hanging on the wall above the transfer tunnel.

Each of the four directions in the hall is equipped with ticket barriers, for a total of 46, which is currently the most among subway stations. A staff member told reporters that the stop also has the most ticket vending machines among subway stations, with 24 machines. Even if the volume of passengers is very high, passengers can still buy tickets rapidly and either enter or leave the station.

According to sources, beside Subway Line 4, Beijing South Railway Station also integrates with the Subway Line 14, which will open to traffic in the future on the third underground level. It is predicted that after both Line 4 and Line 14 open to traffic, over 50 percent of the passengers will choose to take subway to get to or leave Beijing South Railway Station, which certainly will alleviate the road traffic pressure that currently plagues the South Railway Station.

On September 28, along with the opening of Subway Line 4, Beijing South Railway Station's north plaza will open seven public bus lines including No.20, No.84, No.102, No.106, No.458, a special tourist line and a late-night bus line No. 203.
